Lewis grew up watching "Thunderbirds" and decided that a life in miniature visual effects was for him! In a career in the Ausralian film industry that spans over 30 years, he has worked on miniatures, props, masks, animatronics and concept models for TV, films and theatre. His work can be seen in "Razorback", "Dark City",
"The Matrix Trilogy" and two "Star Wars" prequels and many others. (for a full listing see his CV)
He has also lectured in sculpture, character design and claymation at UWS, UTS, JMC and AFTRS and on-line to regional NSW and Arizona USA.
While he was assisting Marilyn to adapt her Red World story into a graphic novel, he created a background character who quickly grew into Peregrine Besset, the time-travelling Ancient Egyptian dwarf!
With more free-time, he is reimagining the deminutive explorer as a web-based comic series and a short puppet film.
Marilyn grew up fascinated by dinosaurs, natural history and the fantasy films of stop-motion master Ray Harryhausen
('The 7th Voyage of Sinbad', 'Jason and the Argonauts', etc.)
As a teenager she spent days in her garden-shed studio, teaching herself to paint and airbrush. These skills led to a career as an illustrator of fantasy and wildlife books. 'Australian Dinosaurs', which she wrote and illustrated, won the Crichton Award for best new talent and was followed by 'More Australian Dinosaurs' and 'Dinosaurs of Australia'.
Active in science-fiction circles, she won the Ditmar Award for Best Artist four times. She also taught courses in book illustration techniques and worked as a modelmaker on numerous films and TV series--amongst other things, designing the baby werewolf for the infamous Australian comic-horror film 'The Howling III.'
Now, with more leisure, she concentrates on bringing her long-developed Red World stories to reality.Recently she hit upon the idea of using her sculpting and modelmaking skills to create miniature tableaus of the characters in their environments, while working on a much more complicated graphic novel version of the whole story.
